Wayfinding with Youth

In the fall of 2024, Urban Minds partnered with Alta Planning + Design Canada to engage residents about their experience with active transportation infrastructure and wayfinding in Guelph. In particular, our team designed family-friendly pop-up activities and heard from high school students through a group bike ride and workshop

The students identified popular destinations they often walk or bike to, drew mental maps of their routes to school, and designed their own wayfinding signs based on their needs and preferences.

We shared the youth’s input with the City of Guelph team to inform their next phase of developing a new, City-wide wayfinding system.
