Brake at Bond: Park(ing) Day 2021

Inviting youth to a global movement of design activism

On Friday, September 17, 2021, Urban Minds hosted a Park(ing) Day event outside 105 Bond St, inviting students and visitors to take a “Brake at Bond”.

Park(ing) Day is a global, public, participatory art project where people across the world temporarily repurpose street parking spaces and convert them to tiny parks and places for art, play, and activism.

“Brake at Bond” is a fuel station designed by Urban Minds in collaboration with Toronto Metropolitan University’s School of Urban and Regional Planning that welcomes students back to campus and is open to the public. “Brake at Bond” features an interactive art installation in the form of a “Welcoming Tree”, a bike tune-up station, and a mini farmers’ market run by the University’s Urban Farm. Fresh, spray-free produce harvested the day of is sold at affordable rates to students and visitors!
